It’s not an easy time to announce something new. The world is a tough place right now, and we lost another great Friday—Ruth Bader Ginsberg. But if I learned one thing from RBG, it’s to stay the course. Keep putting one step in front of the other. Do what you were put on this planet to do.

I have a lot more to offer this world than just food and recipes, but for the moment, I’m called to help families and in particular, parents, create a richer, safer, healthier, more vibrant life for themselves and the ones they love. I’m called to support mothers and fathers and caretakers in their journey to raise healthy, vibrant humans. One way I do that is through recipes, and this year, in particular, it’s through recipes that are spot on delicious, and easier than ever to put together and put on the table.

We all need a little break, or maybe a big one, and last year, after a particularly busy season in my career, the break I needed came in the form of a new Instant Pot—a tool I’d refused to embrace during its initial buzz in the years before. Homemade and from scratch—to me—always meant with my own two hands, and too arms standing over the stove, stirring.

But sometimes that standard came at a cost—a cost in terms of the amount I as taking on feeding my family. A cost to time spent with them, instead of time spent feeding them. A cost to my ability to do other things, like take better care of myself.

This year, we all need to take the best possible care of ourselves, and others. A lot is being asked of us, every single day. We are parents or hopeful parents. We are employees, entrepreneurs, business leaders. We are also teachers. We are activists. Community leaders. We are called to help our neighbor and called to contribute on a global scale, to things like hunger crises and inequality, every day. We are called to be friends and allies. We are called to great and important things, publicly, and privately.

What, then, if we allow ourselves a little help—in the form of tools like the Instant Pot, Multi Cooker, or Slow Cooker? I know that when I finally allowed myself that help last fall and all throughout what turned out to be one of the craziest springs in history, I gained back more time with my family, and still sat down to delicious, healthful, nurturing meals with them each and every night. I gained back the time I needed to serve in the many ways I was needed.

So, without further ado, I give you Instant Family Meals, my new book. It’s the next best thing to me being able to bring over a pot of Turkey Meatball Soup with Macaroni and Kale to your house tonight or a creamy, Double-Chocolate Cheesecake. It’s a warm bowl of porridge on a cold winter morning, a steamy vat of Kimchi Stew. It’s Bolognese in half the time and a Double-The-Veg Pot Roast so heady and satisfying the family will be begging for leftovers. In short, it’s a little help—a boost—a slim book packed with BIG FLAVOR recipes your family will love, crave and lean on in this taxing time in our history. Recipes that will nourish and delight, and also give you a little break.

The book will be out October 27, but you can PRE-ORDER THE BOOK HERE (ALL BOOKSELLERS LISTED BELOW). Thank you, friends, as always—I’m so very grateful for your support, and my hope is this brings something undeniably valuable (more delicious meals, peace of mind and togetherness) to your home.
